All the terrible things that shook up our hearts tonight.

About a month ago I went to Osaka to visit the University there. I had the great pleasure of visiting their Danish teachers and some students. It's still sort of baffling to me why Japanese people would study my language, but they feel the same about me so I guess it's okay. While there I took some time to meet friends.

 Moe and Miyagi.
Kim-san! I haven't seen him in years (Sadly yes, really; years). He seemed happy as can be! Wonderful. Just looking at his picture right now is making me happy.
 We had pretty shrimp.
 The feeling seemed mutual.
Lovely girls Hiromi and Eri. It seemed strange to meet them in Japan. I was used to them being in Denmark.

While "in the neighborhood" I took the train to Kyoto. My friends say I love Kyoto. And that is true to some extent. But I also go there because one of my dearest friends is currently living there. And this time my visit also coincided with the beginning of the Gion Matsuri.

A used-book store.  I bought "the Graduate" for 100 yen, and later read it in a day. It was great, as expected.
Yours truly in Kit's kitchen. Coffee is great.
Getting ready for the festival. Kit's yukata was so cute!
Boys at the Ritumeikan dorm where Kit was living.
 Kit in yukata.
Kit and Rikuto by Kamo-river. The night before we had decided to cross it, barefoot and drunk. A painful experience.
 Matsuri.
Kakigôri! A great summer treat. It was awfully hot. Kyoto is famous for it's summer heat and winter cold. Kind of reminds me of me young days in Gifu.
Around 6 or 7 pm the amount of people started to escalate towards the insufferable.
We held our spirits high though.
 Beautiful girls.
A hoko float with musicians and lanterns.
 Yasaka Shrine.
As it got darker the temperature got better. But we were really getting tired at this point.
 Hallelulja for fans.
At the Yasaka Shrine we met up with Ivar!
Despite the insane amount of people I really enjoyed the festival.
The next day we watched the parades on tv, as Kit lives pretty far from the route. (And we sort of had enough of all the people). Kit then took me to an cool café, which used to be a public bath house.
All tables had little toys. Ours had a class full of panda's and wooden bricks. We never really figured them out. But cute!
 The walls where really pretty.
The china was nice as well.
 Kit had coffee. As always.
It was so nice just to sit with her. I wish we could hang out more often, but Kyoto is far away.
And! The obligatory food pictures: Kit had a sandwich.
 I had Taco-rice.
 Kit looking cool.
 I love blackboards!
While waiting for the train back to Tokyo, I couldn't help but adore this picture.
