A little while ago I made Umeshu with mother Ito. It was so much fun. I live to pickle stuff and I really love umeshu, so when I noticed the plums in the supermarket, I declared that I would make some. Eventually Mother decided that I could just make this year's umeshu, and taught me how to do it. It's fairly easy though:

These are the gorgeous plums we used.
Kuro-chan is watching my every move carefully, as I wash the plums.
Preparatory work.

The jars are huge, but I still felt like making tons.
Then... cover with alcohol.
Lot's of alcohol.
Almost done!
I'm pretty satisfied with my work, but!
Umeshu is not umeshu without sugar.
